We would especially like to thank 3M for their donation of washi tape, packing tape and scissors for our image transfer project. We were able to send everyone who bought a ticket home with a big pile of washi tape (and a big smile on their face because everyone loves washi tape). The amount of washi tape that appeared in our little shop before the party was overwhelming and totally inspiring. Look for some craft tutorials involving washi tape on our site in the future.
Since the theme of the party was involved photographs, we decided to find some historic pictures of Washington and iron them onto a large sheet that people could embroider during the party. We set up a big table and anyone who wanted to stitch just grabbed a hoop and a seat and they were off to the races.
We also set out supplies for Etsy's recommended project so people could embroider embellishments onto vintage photographs if they were so inclined. And they WERE so inclined. It was so much fun to see what everyone came up with. The embroidery supplies were donated by Seattle Handmade and Ephemera Obscura sent us a ton of extra photos for our guests. THANK YOU!!
If you want to see more photos, check out our gallery for the event. You can also search #craftparty (for photos from all the craft parties all over the world) and #seattlecraftparty (for guest-submitted photos at our event) on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
I get all tear-ey every year when the craft community joins together to celebrate Etsy and making. I'm already counting the days until next year.
Until then --
